I was pleased to learn recently that two of my paintings will be included in an exhibit entitled, Artistic Visions of the Golden Gate Bridge at the George Krevsky Gallery in San Francisco. The show, which is marking the 75th anniversary of the opening of the bridge, will feature numerous artists and their interpretations of the bridge. The show opens May 3rd and runs through June 9th. wonderful work!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Mari!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Michael. Beautiful paintings.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rajeev. I'm glad you like them.
ReplyDeleteA question about the painting to the right. Was there a point beyond the dock that you were able to look back across the water, to the dock and bridge anchorage beyond, or did you do this from a boat? Some of your best water paintings look like they are done from a boat, but is that even possible?
ReplyDeleteFunny you should ask about the viewpoint, Wren. As far as I know the bridge can't be seen from this vantage point. I actually did a sketch from the other side of the bridge, and flipped it over when I did this view in my studio. Initially I wanted to see the Marin Headlands across the way, which is the main reason I flipped it. They kind of got lost in the final though.
ReplyDeleteNo, I've never painted from a boat. I'm quite used to making things up to make the story work better.
Very dramatic. Just beatutiful. I don't know the words to express about your painting any more.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Hani Hani for your very kind words.
ReplyDeleteI love these moody and dramatic views of the bridge! I will definitely go to the show and check them out in person!
ReplyDeleteBTW, are you doing the Sonoma Plein Air again this year?
Thanks Arena. I think it should be a good show, with around thirty artists. So it should be worthwhile.
ReplyDeleteI'm planning on applying for Sonoma this year. I'll be there if they take me.
